By the time February greets you, you’ve likely reached your limits of the frigid weather. When March makes an appearance after four months of battling the cold temperatures, you are eagerly looking for signs of spring to roll around. Instead of watching the clock for spring to arrive, why not make the most of your extra time at home now while you can?
Use this time indoors to improve your life and enhance your relationships. Below are some ideas for surviving the remaining winter months until spring arrives.
Try Some R & R
Curl up with a good book or favorite TV show. Allow yourself to relax and be present in the moment. A good book or movie can be just what the doctor ordered to recharge your batteries. Don’t you deserve to experience some “R and R”?
At least one or two evenings a week during the winter months, allow yourself to relax and unwind. This is a great way to lift your spirits and improve your mood.
Stay Goal-Oriented
Stay focused on your goals. Reflect on your objectives and what you want to accomplish over the next few months and the upcoming year. Determine what is most important to you and make any necessary changes.

Make time for special family nights. This one is simple and fun! You can decide on an old-fashioned board game, or let the kids pick a video you all can watch. There are endless possibilities that allow you to spend time bonding together as a family.
Use the winter months to get to know your kids’ interests by spending more time together. Helping them with their homework provides an opportunity to explore their interests also. When you have your loved ones with you, being shut-in isn’t quite so bad.
Explore Your Interests
Discover a new hobby. If you’ve been wanting to learn how to do something, use the winter months to learn about the subject. Anything from learning to paint or studying another language can bring you joy when you dive into learning a new interesting subject.
After you’ve done your initial research, use the winter season to practice and improve on your new skill. When spring rolls around, you’ll be on your way to expert status.
Your imagination and creativity are key to surviving the winter season. Take time to relax, watch favorite movies, evaluate and focus on your goals, reconnect with your spouse and family, and consider taking up a new hobby.
